AOPA Job Board Continues to Grow

“The biggest problem in hiring that we experience is finding qualified and capable people.” 

“The most difficult staffing problem we have is the availability of qualified people.” 

Quotes like these were commonplace when the Almanac asked about hiring in 2005. And the problem hasn’t gone away. Fifty percent of respondents from a December 2006 online poll said it took from six months to one year to fill an open O&P position at their facilities. 

The complaints, problems and frustrations with staffing from O&P patient care facilities and manufacturers across the country led AOPA to launch the only O&P-specific job board in 2006. 

Designed to ease the headache of hiring for both employers and job seekers, the O&P Job Board (http://jobs.AOPAnet.org) allows job seekers to post resumes anonymously, search for jobs by state, be notified whenever a new job is posted and apply for jobs directly through the Web site—all for free. Employers pay a small fee to post job listings, develop a company profile or search and purchase resumes of prospective candidates. 

Since its launch, the Job Board has been an increasing success. It now averages over 1,100 hits per month from both job seekers and employers. The most popular function of the job board is the feature that allows job seekers to post resumes anonymously. The number of resumes posted has grown steadily, and employers continue to purchase resumes each month.
