Recognizing the need for a
one-stop O&P employment network, AOPA recently launched the O&P
Job Board. The O&P Job Board, available at http://jobs.AOPAnet.org,
was created to connect O&P professionals with new employment
opportunities. It is the only online job board dedicated exclusively to
the O&P profession.
The idea for an O&P job board came about through various comments from AOPA members, both those seeking new employment and companies looking to hire new staff. Most O&P professionals said that while they took advantage of the O&P Almanac classified section, another avenue to post and view job openings would be helpful.
AOPA staff members sprung into action. In the summer and fall of 2005, AOPA staff was busy researching the best method to create the O&P Job Board. By the end of fall 2005, a plan was in place to launch the O&P Job Board in early 2006.
Prior to the February 2006 launch, various AOPA staff members worked to ensure that the O&P Job Board would be ready and complete. The process began with developing the best interface for the AOPA site, as well as one that would provide the most user-friendly access for job seekers and companies looking to hire new talent. Once a usable site was in place, many weeks of testing followed to determine that the functionality of the site was complete and comprehensive.
Through the O&P Job Board, job seekers can create career profiles, post resumes, search for jobs by state and keyword and apply for jobs directly through the Web site, completely free of charge.
