More for Pedorthists at the Assembly
In 2006, the
AOPA National Assembly will feature an education track especially for
pedorthists. Also new this year is the exhibit hall’s Pedorthic
Pavilion, an area of the show floor dedicated exclusively to pedorthic
manufacturers and their products.
Acknowledging the natural overlap between pedorthics and O&P, AOPA
expanded the education sessions and devoted exhibit hall space to
address the interests of pedorthists and the many exhibitors featuring
pedorthic products.
To create a strong pedorthic education program, AOPA reached out to
Dennis Janisse, C.Ped., and invited him to join the clinical sessions
work group. Janisse, a former PFA president with over 35 years of
experience in the pedorthic field, accepted the invitation to join the
work group and speak at the Assembly.
As soon as Janisse joined the work group, he was reaching out to others
in the pedorthic profession to join him as speakers at the Assembly. He
provided names and contact information to the work group and made
numerous phone calls to his colleagues.
Janisse is proud of the overall program organized by the work group and
is excited about the opportunities for pedorthists at this year’s
Assembly. “I’ve felt for a long time that pedorthics
are an extension of O&P. It really benefits the pedorthic
profession to align with O&P at an event like the Assembly.”
In addition to Dennis Janisse,
C.Ped., the 2006 AOPA National Assembly clinical sessions work group
includes C. Michael Schuch, CPO, FISPO, FAAOP, Chairman; Chris Fairman,
CPO; Tom Gavin, CO; and Tina Moran, AOPA director of meetings and
conventions.
