Medicare Supplier and Quality Standards

  • Medicare Supplier Standards

Currently there are 25 Supplier Standards, which must be met in order to be eligible to receive payment from the Medicare Program.  In addition, these standards must be provided to your patients when care is provided.  Below are two versions of these standards.  While the long version is what you will be responsible for meeting, Medicare has also provided a shorter version that is acceptable for hand-out to your patients.  You may also choose to provide them with the longer version if you wish.

  • Medicare Quality Standards

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has adopted the attached Quality Standards and has required that all deemed accrediting bodies, such as the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) and the Board of Certification/Accreditation, International (BOC), adopt them as part of their accreditation requirements.  While these standards are updated from time to time, you can find the most recent version below.  It is expected that these will be updated again in the first half of 2009.  In addition, at some point in the future, accreditation and therefore the quality standards, will become mandatory for enrollment in the Medicare Program.
