Mission
Ensure that the interests of AOPA members are represented in issues dealing with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs including the 21 unique Veterans Integrated Services Networks (VISNs) that coordinate care to America’s Veteran population
Charge
The purpose of the AOPA VISN Network will be to share experiences, including challenges and successes working within the VISN hierarchy with AOPA and the other network members, and to communicate AOPA strategy and collaboration with the VA at the local VISN level.
“Work groups” may be established as necessary to ensure accomplishment of its annual objectives and to enhance membership involvement. Work groups may be composed entirely of members, but each work group must have at least one member.
Specific Roles
Develop strategy to ensure that AOPA members are treated fairly and without prejudice by the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
- Communicate with VA representatives at the local and national level on a regular basis.
- Draft official AOPA comments on any Federal Register notices that may impact, directly or indirectly, the AOPA membership.
- Communicate with members of Congress regarding issues that may impact the ability of AOPA members to provide service to the Veteran population
Values and Expectations
Network representatives will meet every other month as a group, with network representatives checking in with AOPA staff individually as challenges or issues arise within their respective VISNs.
