Bio:
Elizabeth Halsne, PhD, MSE, L/CPO is a certified prosthetist/orthotist with a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science. Dr. Halsne is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington and an investigator in the VA Puget Sound Center for Limb Loss and Mobility. She has over fifteen years of experience working as a clinician and researcher in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics.
As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Halsne is focused on improving the lives of Veterans, Service Members, and civilian Americans living with limb loss and limb by improving the quality of personalized patient care, expanding the use and availability of high-quality and high-impact clinical outcome instruments to assess the impact of custom prosthetic and orthotic devices on people’s lives, and advancing prosthetic and orthotic technologies, including the use of robotics. Dr. Halsne’s research has led to over 30 peer-reviewed publications, two assistive device technology patents, and dozens of presentations at national and international clinical research conferences. She also serves as the program manager for the Orthotics and Prosthetics Foundation for Education and Research’s Early Career Research Grant program.
