Why Have a PAC?

The PAC works to protect the future of the O&P profession and the services provided to consumers. It offers O&P professionals an opportunity to combine their individual contributions to support candidates who understand the role that O&P plays in the health care system. These candidates are often senators and representatives who serve on key committees and have demonstrated interest and concern for O&P services. They are in a position to influence legislative debate on issues that affect the financial future of the O&P field. The PAC makes an impact on behalf of the entire profession. It helps AOPA in its efforts to educate members of Congress about O&P interests, including the Medicare reimbursement process, the highly specialized and custom fitting requirements for prosthetic and orthotic devices, and issues surrounding managed care.
