AOPA to Welcome Ashlie White as Senior Director of External Affairs

The American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) is pleased to announce that Ashlie White, MS, will join the organization as its new Senior Director of External Affairs on August 18. A nationally respected leader in orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) advocacy, health policy, and strategic programming, Ashlie brings a wealth of experience and passion for improving both the O&P profession and the lives of individuals with limb loss and limb difference.

Ashlie most recently served as Chief Strategy and Programs Officer at the Amputee Coalition, where she oversaw the National Limb Loss Resource Center, government relations, education, and research. This role as well as her previous roles reflect her deep commitment to advancing access to care, strengthening community support, and driving policy innovation to improve patient outcomes.

This marks a return to AOPA for Ashlie, who previously served as AOPA’s Director of Health Policy and Strategic Alliances. Her extensive background in public policy, health law, and public health leadership—paired with her proven track record of building cross-disciplinary partnerships—will be instrumental in leading AOPA’s policy, research, and strategic alliance initiatives.

“As AOPA doubles down on advocating for policies at both the federal and state levels that advance the profession and protect patient access to high-quality O&P care, Ashlie’s drive, vision, relationships, and leadership will play a key role in advancing AOPA’s mission,” said Teri Kuffel, JD, Executive Director of AOPA.

Ashlie holds a Master of Science in Health Law from NYU, a Graduate Certificate in Public Health Leadership, a Master of Arts in Digital Communication, and a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In her new role, Ashlie will direct federal and state policy initiatives, facilitate research collaborations, and lead AOPA’s strategic external alliances with the goal of ensuring a stronger future for the AOPA membership, the O&P profession, and the limb loss and limb difference community.

Please join us in welcoming Ashlie White back to AOPA!
